Topps Ugly Stickers

Many thanks to everyone in the comments who helped me identify these cards! Artists for these include Wally Wood Basil Wolverton and Norman Saunders.

SEAN ÄABERG posted a great link with more information and artwork from the card series at Bubblegumcards.org

Another article on these wacky monster themed cards can be viewed at Squidoo.com

These are from the Topps Ugly Sticker cards, probably from the mid 60's. I believe the artist is Wally Wood.

Some of the artists involved were Wally Wood Basil Woolverton and Norman Saunders.
The stickers had names on them.
When I was going to elementary school if you gave one these to a girl with her name on it she would cry. Also the stickum glue was incredible and would never come off.

actually, Norman Saunders did these.

I grew up collecting these as a kid,
and recently got a book on Norman Saunders and was surprised to see all the stuff he did for products in the 60s. He started out doing pulp fiction covers.

GrizzleBane is right, but also Eyesore, it's a team of artists, Wally Wood, Wolverton & Norman Saunders worked on these as far as i know. I think i've got a link... hold on...

Yep. I had these. They were puffy stickers. I used to buy them at 7 Eleven or something like that-came in a pack. Wow what a flashback.

Thanks for the amazing feedback, everyone. Interesting that Wally Wood was involved in these, and I should have guessed that Wolverton was! I'll have to poke around for more of these at a decent size to hopefully post on here at a later time.

Whoa. These are amazing! And whats even more amazing is the brutal rip off job that Cale Ajioka pointed out. Did you guys see that? Brutal! I understand being inspired by something or someone and even doing your own interpretation of something (I do series based on characters I grew up with) but you can't claim it as your own! Now I'm ranting... sorry.

Any-hoo, I love this blog, it's one I check out everyday when I get into work.Keep it up!
