Apsit Alexander Petrovich





















Both of these lithographs are political posters from the Soviet Union created around 1918. I posted the top one a while back in reference to the collection at the NYPL digital library. More of the art by Apsit can be seen here. And I don't know why I didn't notice this a long time ago but that top poster, it looks strangely familiar. Did I just stumble across the inspiration for Jabba The Hut? Not only does that worm like creature resemble Jabba but it's in the same scale compared to humans and even has a similar platform that it rests on like Jabba has. Weird..
