I've been obsessed with the top image depicting Sybil and Aeneas in the Underworld from childhood, I discovered it in a book in my father's library titled "Fantastic Art" published by Ballantine Books in 1973. This is the book that introduced me to artists such as Hieronymus Bosch, Brueghel, Matthias Grunewald, Arcimboldo, Salvatore Rosa, Goya, John Martin, Thomas Hafner, Dado, and many other artists that have had a lifelong impact and inspiration on my own art over the years. And coincidentally, several artists that I've recently shared on Monster Brains. I'm thankful for the photo of the painting taken by Ilja van de Pavert.
The last time I ran a proper post on Swanenburg was in 2007.
