Included here are 100 of the 120 woodcuts of various bizarre characters from "Les songes drolatiques de Pantagruel" translated into English as "The Droll Dreams of Pantagruel" published in 1565. A detailed article on the woodcuts can be found at Poemas del rio Wang. Additional information regarding the artworks can be found at BibliOdyssey.
The Pantagruel woodcuts were previously mentioned on Monster Brains five years ago.

Desprez' freakshow is of course wonderful! So many I hadn't seen seen before... thanks Aeron!
Wow. Just... Wow!
You're welcome Fufu, this is actually the first of three Pantagruel related posts that I'll be sharing this week. The second is an assortment of the Salvador Dali interpretations but the third.. is going to blow your mind. Imagine intricately detailed oil paintings based on dozens of these woodcuts.
These are literally beyond description.
