Paintings From Hell
Always a great source of inspiration for monsters, Hell has been interpreted by countless artists in many gruesome and fantastic ways. While browsing the Wikimedia Commons I found some great galleries of art based on the Last Judgement, Hell, and The Devil.

The History of Hell by Alice K. Turner has most of these images, and a lot more great ones.
it's a very interesting book as well.
