Ben Blatt
"American artist Ben Blatt entered the new American painting scene with an eye turned on the teachings of the great masters of the European tradition, especially on Flemish and Italian seventeenth century painters.
The objects of his artistic investigation are myths and fairy tales, which he contaminates with the post-modern mythology of science fiction." quote from here.

Cambrian Lifeforms
Usually I link to artists who paint or draw creatures like this based out of their imaginations. But these links are to photographs, recreations and illustrations of animals that really lived millions of years ago. Read about the discovery of these incredibly strange and ancient creatures here.
