An Exhibit Of Unspeakable Things
Here is a great collection of pictures taken from the recent exhibit of artworks inspired by H.P Lovecraft's Commonplace Book at the Maison d'Ailleurs Museum of Science Fiction in Switzerland. He used this as a sort of sketchbook for ideas that he jotted down, most of which are only a sentence long. All the artists that took part in the show made imagery inspired by these writings.

For those interested a catalogue of the show with 128 pages and 90 illustrations will be available from Maison d'Ailleurs and Payot bookstores.

The Alligator Snapping Turtle
When wondering what something out of a Hieronymus Bosch painting would look like in the real world you need look no further than the Alligator Snapping Turtle.
The one below appears to have a jungle of moss growing on its back. It's easy to imagine these creatures as giants with vast landscapes stretched across their shells.

Kaiju/Patchi/Menko Cards
Here's a sheet of interesting Kaiju cards I found recently on flickr.
Found these at this Menko site.
"These are Patchi Kaiju cards from the 70's. The company basicaly took pics of existing Kaiju and collaged them into different monsters in order to avoid licensing." - image and quote source.

Erik Desmazières - The Temptation of St Anthony
The above works are reimaginings of the original by Jacques Callot. Click here to see another interpretation of this work as a political cartoon.
These were made available thanks to Mr H of the now ended amazing art blog Giornale Nuovo. To see more of the fascinating etchings by Eric Desmazières check out this post from last month at Giornale Nuovo.
Giornale Nuovo was one of the first art blogs I became interested in and was part of the inspiration for Monster Brains, it will be greatly missed.

The Dancing Devils of Yare
Above images found in this article from the New York Times website, those devils dance to some fat ass beats. The pictures below were found on this flickr gallery and digging through google.
"The Dancing Devils of Yare (Diablos Danzantes del Yare) is the name of a religious festivity celebrated in San Francisco de Yare, Miranda state, Venezuela, at the Corpus Christi day. The Sociedades del SantÃsimo (Societies of the Holiest) are in charge of the celebration. Its origins are traced back to the 18th century, being the oldest brotherhood of the American continent.
Every Holy Thursday, a ritual dance is performed by the so called "Dancing Devils", who wear colorful garments (commonly all red), layers of stripped fabric, masks of grotesque appearance and also accessories like crosses, scapulars, rosaries and other sorts of amulets."

Bestiario
Found these incredible beasts in cloth on this flickr page from Pedro Tornero. There is a selection of other artworks collected at Tornero's flickr page. I'm unaware of any background information regarding these works other than the mention of Averno, a name that the Greeks gave to a crater near Cumas which they thought was the entrance to the Underworld, was mentioned alongside one of these pics.
