Jeff Gaither
Not sure how I managed to go this long without mentioning Jeff Gaither, but here he is. I used to buy tattoo magazines as a teenager just to get the cool fold out posters of Gaither art they'd come with. Been a fan for a long time. Check out this painting.

David Sandlin's Swamp Preacher
"Swamp Preacher presents the sixth volume of Sandlin’s ongoing project A Sinner's Progress, an epic series of lore surrounding characters involved with a religious novelty company, Pur-Ton-o-Fun Co. Moving back in time, Swamp Preacher uncovers the unearthly origins of Carl Bob deVille, Pur-Ton-o-Fun Co.’s charismatic and mysterious founder. Metamorphosed through the absorption of others’ sins, Carl Bob deVille must be reborn from swampy depths. The legend of Swamp Preacher draws on rich sources from the Southern gothic tradition to pulp fiction comics."

Paintings From Hell
Always a great source of inspiration for monsters, Hell has been interpreted by countless artists in many gruesome and fantastic ways. While browsing the Wikimedia Commons I found some great galleries of art based on the Last Judgement, Hell, and The Devil.

Click the following numbers to see some of my favorites. And don't forget to double click these images to see the larger versions.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6

The above image is taken from a painting by Fra Angelico. A detailed view of the Hell panel can be seen here and a full composition can be seen here.
