Gerard Cambon
An outsider artist from France, Cambon creates unusual sculptures that incorporate found objects such as wood, leather and iron. He's created a fantastic array of sculptures in the form of vehicles which come across as unusual mechanical creatures on wheels. Everything he creates looks like bizarre props from some Quay Brothers/Svankmajer inspired stop motion film.

Hieronymus Bosch - 100th post!
Bosch's vivid and wildly imaginative paintings depict insanely detailed fantasy worlds. The demons and monsters are shown as symbols of the evil of man. There are many levels of meaning behind the imagery layered in his work such as alchemy, witchcraft and the hypocrisy of contemporary religion. Bosch is considered a precursor to Surrealism and has inspired countless artists. One of the more prominent artists inspired by his work was Pieter Brueghel The Elder who went on to make paintings and prints in the style of Bosch. You can find more detailed examples of Bosch's paintings at this gallery.
In researching links for this post I stumbled across something very interesting. Someone has apparently made action figures of characters from Bosch's paintings.
3 months after starting this blog I've hit the 100th post. I finally put up a graphic for the "Monster Brains" logo. I've got some different things planned in the following weeks. I'm going to have a week dedicated to "erotic" art but in the style of artists that I normally post. You can expect to see a post dedicated to Hans Bellmer during that time. I'm also going to have a week dedicated to artists I'm friends with who's work fits perfectly in here.

André Lemos - Opuntia Syndrome
Here is an artist from Portugal who posts many unusual creatures on his site. Some of the ink brush style of the art resembles the work of Clive Barker.

Manuel Ocampo
Surreal landscapes littered with floating symbolic imagery could sum up a large portion of Ocampo's paintings. He combines motifs addressing religion and the occult with cartoon styled imagery and pop culture icons.

Richard Colman
Similar to Neckface and Marcel Dzama, this guy likes to draw weird costumed people, mutilations and other bizarre stuff on top of blank backgrounds.

Keiti Ota
Here is another artist associated with Le Dernier Cri. Ota creates a colorful and derranged world with really weird looking kids. Themes of torture, bondage and mutation echo through most of the images. I found this image particularly disturbing. In it there appears to be a kid having his tongue pulled out only to have it regenerate and be pulled out again?

Leo
An underground comic artist attached to the french art group Le Dernier Cri, Leo has incorporated the drug influenced Zap style with a more horrific vibe. There are some similarities between Leo and Charles Burns, especially with images like this. To see another gallery in english on Leo, check this site out.
Also, be sure to check out my new blog dedicated to unusual animation. I'll be posting plenty of bizarre cartoons, stop motion animations, and links to many other bizarre moving images over the following weeks.
