Peter Clarke
The first thing that struck me about Clarke's paintings was how his painting style resembles a perfect mix between The Glenn Barr and Brian Froud. I found that to be a very strange combination. His work consists mainly of strange fantasy pictures with an emphasis on bizarre monsters.

Here is a selection of other works of art by Peter Clarke.

Jacques Pyon
Here is a gallery of French underground comic artist, Jacques Pyon. His work has a goofy but demented cartoon style about it, kind of a sinister version of a Nickelodean cartoon. There is a strange array of creatures and characters through out his work. Be sure to check out this sketchbook of his. Lots of interesting drawings in there.

Leonora Carrington
Unless I'm missing someone, this is the last living original surrealist. Carrington associated with Dali, Ernst, Tanguy, Belmer and many of the other well known surrealists. Her work has a distinct resemblance in subject matter to Remedios Varo. Another female surrealist who shared an interest in painting imagery of the mystical and magical within the context of surrealism. Both Carrington and Varo fled from Europe during WW2 to Mexico where they made their greatest works.
