Christoph Jamnitzer
The creatures in these drawings appear equally as ornaments or patterns brought to life. The spiral shell motif is repeated through most of the creatures giving everything a bizarre snail like appearance. If I ever manage to get a copy of this book I will scan every picture in it and make a worthy gallery of this artist. Until then, here are 6 incredibly large detailed images from Jamnitzer's peculiar imagination.

Gregory Jacobsen
Very few artists could make something that at first glance resembles a fruit basket, actually appear as some surreal entrance to hell. Human ugliness and all manner of creatures litter the environments of Gregory Jacobsen's grotesquely painted world.
